The Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU) plans the purchase of the radiation detection equipment in order to support the training through the EUSECTRA in the area of detection and response to the illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive material. The equipment for training to be offered is intended for use by the front line officers, their management, the trainers and other experts in the field. The aim of the present call is the supply of a Secondary spectroscopic radiation portal monitor intended for detection of the presence of radioactive material being transported in vehicles and measuring the gamma and neutron radiation level while a vehicle occupies the detection area. The purchase shall cover the delivery and installation of the complete equipment, including training.

Framework contract for the provision of the maintenance service on Hamilton analytical instrument in scientific laboratories

The IHCP/NBS unit is working in the framework of the institutional project Nanobiosciences (Action 15024). The objectives of this project include work on the toxicity and biokinetics of nanoparticles, in addition to a range of other fields such as biosensors and medical isotope production. In this framework, the institute plans to purchase a multipurpose cellular imaging system to expand the actual image analysis capabilities towards automatization and high-content screening. The purchase instrument shall be capable to simultaneously analyze morphological parameters, as well as multiple markers, within the same cell. It shall be capable to analyze interactions as they happen and gain insights into complex mechanisms.

The IRMM requires the procurement of an instrument for rapid quantification of viruses in liquid samples. The virus counter shall be a specialized flow cytometer that uses high-sensitivity fluorescence detection to give a direct measurement of the concentration of virus particles.

The Institute for Transuranium Elements plans the purchase an extension of the existing Surface Science Lab Station. The extension consists of a High Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectrometer (HREELS), a double Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), a Bremsstrahlung Isochromat Detector (BIS), a XPS Micro-focus option, and a UHV Kelvin probe. The IET is planning to purchase a modular Nano-Indentation Test System (further also referred to as "the equipment") for testing physical properties of indentation Hardness and modulus as well as Creep, Fracture toughness and Ductile-Brittle Transition Temperature (DBTT) of metallic, ceramic or composite materials. The equipment must allow for the execution of these tests at a temperature range of at least minus 20°C up to plus 600°C including indenter-tip heating in oxygen reduced atmosphere.

The scope of the services is the performance of an in-depth analysis of the technological innovation that could take place in the aluminium sector in the EU and Iceland and the quantification of its impact on the sector's energy efficiencies, GHG emissions profile and cost-competitiveness up to 2050. 2 main tasks will have to be performed by the future contractor: 1. analysis of the current technology status and technology prospects of the European aluminium industry and assessment of the resulting margin of improvement for energy efficiency gains and GHG emissions reduction for the sector and its impact on cost-competitiveness; 2. development of scenarios to determine the deployment of low carbon and efficient energy technologies up to 2050 in the sector and quantification of its impact on energy efficiency, reduction of GHG emissions and the cost-competitiveness of the sector up to 2050.

Direct contract for the design, supply, installation and maintenance of photovoltaic plants to be installed on the shelters of parking via Grecia and onto buildings 18, 48, 100 and 101, at the JRC ispra site. The minimum pick power (kWp) to be installed on each building and on the parking shelters is defined in the tender specifications. The Institute for Transuranium Elements plans the purchase of a SQUID magnetometer for magnetic studies of actinide materials. The device shall include a SQUID (Superconducting QUantum Interference Device) with the Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM) technology, for precise dc-magnetic measurements, an ac-susceptibility system, an integrated cryo-cooling system allowing to work at very low temperatures (2K) with minimal helium losses, a superconducting coil allowing to apply stable magnetic fields up to 7T, a personal computer with hard- and soft- wares for instrument control, as well as all ancillary equipment necessary for operating the instrument. The purchase comprises the manufacture and installation at the ITU premises. The purchase shall cover the delivery and installation of the complete equipment, including training.

In the framework of its legal obligations, the European Commission will renew the fire engine of the JRC–IRMM fire brigade in 2440GEEL, Belgium. This fire engine will allow, in case of fire, a minimum of staff to perform a fast and safe turn out and “fire attack”. An annual preventive maintenance service is foreseen for 10 years.
